Scholarships

Introduction

Scholarship applications are open to pupils entering the School between Year 7 and Year 10. Scholarship awards enable Ballard to attract and reward exceptional candidates who have a talent and on-going passion for particular areas of school life. Our Scholarships reflect our holistic approach to education and allow us to celebrate outstanding pupils with strengths in a variety of areas: the Ballardian All-round Scholarship caters to candidates with a breadth of interests and aptitudes, whereas candidates who excel in one area should apply for a single discipline Scholarship.

Successful candidates will join the Scholarship programme and may receive a discretionary discount on their school fees. They will be positive role models, becoming ambassadors for the school and mentoring younger pupils. Candidates can apply for a maximum of one scholarship, either in a single discipline, or for a Ballardian All-round Scholarship, where candidates can opt to demonstrate strength across two disciplines. 

Please note, there are only a limited number of Scholarships available each year and candidates will only be invited to the practical assessment days if it is clear from their application that they meet the minimum criteria set out during our shortlisting process.

We accept applications from current pupils and those who are registered, for those who aren’t yet registered, you will need to complete our registration process. Please contact our friendly Registrar team to find out more.

Please be advised that the School reserves the right to withdraw a scholarship should performance levels or behaviour drop below our scholarship standards.

Deadline for Scholarship Applications 

The deadline for an expression of interest is the end of the Autumn Term prior to your child’s start date. For September 2026 Scholarships, the deadline is 5.00pm Friday, 12th December 2025.
